Firefox has security measures in place to help protect you as you browse the web.
Follow these steps to adjust these settings:
- From Firefox, go to Open menu > Options. The Options window appears.
- Click the General tab. This tab allows you to set Firefox as your default browser.

Note: For more information about cookies, see the Managing Browser Cookies how to article. - In the History section, select Never remember history from the drop-down menu. If the browser remembers these options, it can be a privacy violation, especially if the browser is used in a shared environment.
- Click the Security tab to manage your stored passwords and to use a master password feature to encrypt the data on your system.
- Remove the Remember passwords for sites checkbox.
- Select the Use a master password checkbox if you want Firefox to manage your passwords.
- Select the Warn me when sites try to install add-ons checkbox if you want a warning bar to display at the top of the browser when a website attempts to install add-on.
- Click OK. Your preferences are saved.
